I use the old outer race as a drift for the new one. Just grind down the
outside so it is a loose fit in the head then use it to drive in the new
race. This will prevent the new race from becoming distorted which it would
if a smaller punch or drift was used. It also keeps the hammer away from
the lip on the frame.
