Replacement of the stering head bearings is very straightforward. The
only thing that I can think of to look out for is that you need to make
sure that the keyway for the steering lock ends up in the correct
position when you are done. Also, getting the top plate separated from
the fork tubes can leave you scrathing your head, if you are averse to
using a beatin' iron. Other than that, it is simply a matter of knocking
out the old races, pressing the bearings off the steering shaft with
your favorite tool of persuasion, and then installing the new parts.
BTW, you can find the generic steering head bearings at any good bearing
supply place for about half of what you'll pay a Guzzi dealer for the
same parts.
