One option I've used on my Eldo is cut one ring from the spring. Works well
but some say the return pressure is inadaquit to return tthe tthrottle. If
you roll the throttle down manually it wioll return to idle just fine.

I figured there must be some different springs
for the cables as I could not imagine heading
out for a "JB Weld" marathon with present
system. For right now I will see how things
settle out. I just got back from another test
run and it is running great. Left cylinder
has significant louder "tapping" than right.
This is after I adjusted valves....twice.....just
to be sure. It is 95 degrees here in western
Wisconsin and humid. I don't relish the thought
of going into a unairconditioned garage to tinker
on a warm engine. The breather just puked
an ounce or two of oil on the lower case (very short
breather tube) and don't know whats up with that.
Put a tube on it. then it hits the ground instead of the bell housing.
For now I will see how it settles down and have
a cold one.....thanks to all for info on the throttle
