Just want to add that the two 8mm bolts that hold the bracket to the block
also break when the belt is too tight,and they are one royal pain to get out
with the engine in the frame;been there done that! >

Yes, the left cylinder, but no need to worry about which part of the cycle.
The timing marks come around on every crank rotation so it is always
correct.

You probably won't have to pull anything off. Mostly the outer pulley and
spacing washers just fall off. Harder to keep them all aligned when
re-installing.

DO NOT set this belt tight! You are not driving an air compressor. Just
snug is fine. Overtightening is the major cause of fractured generator
mounting yokes.
