Yes.
To be more clear...
the BAN (big assed nut) does not need to come off to swap washers in and out
to adjust belt tension. Just the 3 small bolts. The only time the BAN needs
to come off is to remove the flange that the pully is bolted to. No
necessary unless you want to remove the timing gear cover.
After my years with BMW manuals I find the Eldo shop manual a bit sparse in places. I'd like to know if I can pull the front of the pulley and generator belt to adjust washers and stuff without removing tank, loossening generator and taking the belt off that way first. Can someone walk me through the steps please. I assume loosening the crank nut involves having the bike in first gear, someone' s foot on the brake and a fairly healthy sized extension to a breaker bar. Can I then just remove the three nuts on the pulley and use a puller to get it off. Can I replace the pulley in reverse with it still being on the generator pulley. Thanks folks.
