I'm confused... why wouldn't the bosch be compatible? the charging system
doesn't touch the starting system except via the battery.
The rule that you have to use a marelli VR with a Marelli gen is a rule of
thumb. Just a quick way to know you have a properly rated VR in the system.
unless I am wrong and there is some sort of voodoo magic going that I don't
know about.
The boot protectors eh. I have one that is rusted and cracked. But I was
looking at it and it doesn't look all that hard to make. I'll try when I get
some stainless tube
Z, Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought I was told if you have a Marelli starter, you can't use a Bosch in it's place, something to do with the electronics of the bike, perhaps a Marelli generator/regulator not being compatible with a Bosch starter???? Just wanted to mention it just in case. As for the junkyard, wish there was one this way! If you find any of those old style "boot guards", those 1/2 moon shaped guards that bolt onto the valve covers, let me know, I'd like a set! Thanx!
