I just did this over the weekend. I had the whole backplate off, so it was
easier for me. Getting the new spring in place was a pain until I figured
the trick.
there are two posts. 1 on the plate and another on the selector. You stick
the tips of the springon the post on the plate and twist it over. There is
only one way it is supposed to go..so examine the spring. with it twisted in
place, stick the selector shaft through the spring coil and wrestle the post
on the selector between the tips of the spring.
That's just how it worked out for me.
