Bill,
All the power for the ignition runs through the ignition switch. That is why
when you turn the key off...it stops and when you turn it on you get juice.
I don't think the problem is in the starter button...that just runs power to
the starter solenoid.....but the main ignition switch is the main one....and
yes the current to the starter solenoid runs through the ignition switch.

The switch! I never even considered the switch. I've got the starter push button mounted on the right handlebar. The ignition switch just powers ignition and enables lights. I have no idea how much current passes throught the starter button and if this current runs through the ignition switch or not. Guess it's time to trace the wiring. Thanks for the hint. Bill Dudley |
