I originally thought we started talking about holding the engine from
spinnin' but who knows I'm supposed to be working.
Thanks for that bolt size Ian, It'll save alot of time fishing around at
the hardware store.

Gotta go, first time in 1 year or so I'v been able to pull a clutch
and ride into work.

Later,
Kev
P.s. Ian did you get my serial # ? I tried sending it yesterday to your
email. Let me know.

 Kev and All,

I think I got confused as to what tool we were talking about. I was
thinking
of a tool to align the plates on assembly and the other tool was one to
hold
the flywheel solid when unbolting the crank. Sorry.

As for the thread in the center of the crank...it's a 12 x 1.5. Same as
the
big end of the shock boss (the part that goes into the frame). The nice
thing is that the other end of the shock boss is a 8 or 10 x 1.5
(something
like that...common though) and once you get a nut on that end you can
fit up
the right length bolt and washers to get the bolt started in the crank.
Then
all you have to do is slowly screw down the clutch assembly.

As for the hub...I removed the hub from the tranny and used it to keep
everything aligned.. Once the flywheel was on tight I placed it back on
the
tranny. Worked like a charm.

Regards....Ian

 Ian,

Yeah, sort of like the original Guzzi tool right? A few years ago I had
the
privledge of kicking out the $ for a new clutch hub, the old one can be
used
to compress & align the plates, I just have to find the right size bolt
to
run thru it.
If I can I might be able to lend it out.
As for sliding the engine forward, I haven't had to.
