Tim,
I always thought that the reason one mounts a rear
tire on the front in the reverse direction of the
arrow is because of the way the belts are overlapped
in the tire and the stress placed on the tire when
braking is opposite of the stress on a rear tire when
accelerating. I recall doing this with Phantoms for
an SR500 I had, and that was what I was told - seemed
to make sense to me. I've only done this a few times
on bikes over the years but never had a problem. I've
always mounted a rear on the front and never a front
on a rear, probably because of sizes more than
anything else.
