Hi Pete,
I have K&N's and did not change the jets. She seems to run ok with the plugs
tan coloured.
If your plugs are black be sure that the bike is fully warmed up and that
you have run the bike on the highway a while before making the assessment.
Also be sure that the choke cable is slack when the choke is "off".

This reminds me Is rejetting needed after putting on K&N air filters? I did that and synchronized carbs seems to run OK but I have only taken a few short test runs as the bike is not registered. Plug residue is black Is it too rich?
