Then you use 1000cc top end stuff. This way, you don't have to worry
about new sleeves coming loose or having the 850cylinder walls wear thru
due to the drilling you need to do to accomodate the pushrods new
position.( I know there is a problem in this area when you punch out 850
jugs, but I may be wrong as to the pushrod position part)(Cheese, care
to elaborate?)

I had an Eldo with a junk case, and shot right side. I had a Vert mill
laying around, and played with both piles. Took the Vert case, rods,
pistons, jugs, valve train, carbs, and mated them to the Eldo cam, crank,
heads, front cover. Only work I had to do was Dremel off a ridge in the
pushrod tubes of the Eldo head (side away from the bore), to allow for
clearance of the pushrods using the Vert valve train. Could use the Eldo
valve train, then you need to take some meat off the bore side of the
cylinder push rod tube to allow for clearance as I recall.

Drilled/tapped/Helicoiled the bosses for the generator mount. Worth noting
that it was a timing chain Eldo that I started with. Can't say for sure if
it will work with a gear drive, without diggin out my notes and parts book
references. Was 5-6 years ago, memory failing with advanced years.

No boring, no sleeving, no machining of the cylinder skirts, got an oil
filter block now too. Other than a different serial number on the block and
the different oil pan, you can't tell what I did. Didn't balance anything.
That might smooth things out some, but I have pounded on this thing for 25K+
miles, most all of them with a sidehack, with no problems at all.
