Just had to put my 2 cents worth in on the ambo. I just turned down $11,000 for my police eldo mark built for me. It was a serious offer from an attorney who saw
it while I was cleaning it up at the car wash. To the list members this may seem very high, but to this guy who was waiting on a big HD, the eldo was something
unique. I would rather have my eldo than a new sportster, and have about that much in it. I would look for these bikes to go up, much like the british iron did
several years ago. It wasn't so long ago I was buying eldo's for under 500 if they were all there but not running. Though there are quite a few around, I believe
there is only a fraction compared to much of the british stuff,, and there is no comparison in ridability. A modernized eldo is fun and reliable enough to continue
to be servicable far into the future. While bikes will come and go quietly into oblivion, loopframes will become as classic a bike as us owners already know they
will be. From viewed as a restoration project, 3000 sounds perhaps a bit on the high side but not unreasonable if its all there and just in need of restoration.
Even if an additional 3000 were spent to get it going and cleaned up, what out there would have that amount of classic ridablility for 6k. My point is that bike
prices have gone up to the point that if one wanted a "new loopframe" what would it cost? I'd bet that 12K wouldn't be too much. Personally, it would take 15K to
get this eldo away from me. I should have never sold my first one. And after 5 triumphs, 2 bsa's, a norton, 3 ducati's, 2 other guzzi's and a sportster, this is by
far the best bike I have owned.
