Oil probably comes from leaky seal on gearbox output shaft, but some times
it mysteriously creeps up from bevel box. Don't know how. Check levels for a
while and see.
Maybe previous owner just thought he'd oil the UJ!

ps. I'd buy a new cable.

Upshifting was a pain as well as stopping, but |
had to get her home. Anyway when I was removing the old cable, I noticed oil on the underside of the u-joint boot. Is this anything to worry |
I have no oil in my garage where the bike is parked, so it's not dripping |
anything...just hanging on the bottom. I assume that it is coming from |
rear diff. I just changed the oil in it...maybe a little too much? I went by Dave Richardson's advice to use 360 cc's (mL) and not use the level |
plug (I took the plug out just to see, and indeed what you pour in the top comes right out the plug hole and doesen't fill the rear end at all). Anyway, just wanted some input on this. Also, is it worth it to repair a clutch cable (the ball end at the handle came off) or should I just get a new one? Cheers!
