Hi Mike,
I believe that this was the norm for the early 700's. When they went to
12xxx and above serial numbers (Ambos and Eldos)....the engine and framethem
numbers matched.
By the way...can you give me your serial numbers again? I have your 700
listed as #1780. Was that the engine or the frame. And the second bike??

I have now owned three examples of V700's....still have two....none of
had matching frame and engine numbers, the titles all matched the
frame....is this the norm as I expect?
