The reserve is the little stick type filter thats supposed to be in the
petcock tap. One is perforated all the way down (the reserve), the other
only 1/2 way down. The left one is traditionally the reserve. When I got my
Eldo, the guy told me to leave both petcocks open all the time...the second
time I pushed it home, I figured out how to only use one side at a time.
With the filters perforated the way they are, if you run out, switch to
reserve, and unfortunately run out again, there's still a bit of gas on the
right side which can be sloshed over to get a couple more miles.
Enjoy!

Wasn't the reseve just a shorter tap on the inside of the tank?
What I do is to keep one side open at a time. If I run out there is always a
little fuel trapped on one side so either side will work as a reserve.
By the way, I am getting ready to install the new gaskets into the petcocks.
Anyone ever done this? Any tricks to getting it right?
Ian
Okay, so which side is the "built in reserve"??? ------------- John Willcox Denver, CO
