Hi David,
I would take some fine sandpaper and make sure that the inner areas of the
triple clamps were nice and clean. I don't know if this is advisable but I
would likely lube the tubes slightly to aid in the installation....as well
as keep the tubes and clamps rusting in the future.

Received my new fork tubes from Forking by Frank and I am ready to slip them in the lower triple clamps which are already on the bike. There is some paint on the on the inside of the triple clamps due to overzealous work with the rattlecan. Should I remove this paint? What is the best way to prepare this surface for my new tubes. The old ones were rusted in place. David in NYC |
