Hi All,
I had my cylinders "exchanged" through Eish as well and I have always been
pleased with their service.
As far as I know...all Joe does (as well as everyone else) is send the old
cylinders away and gets a company to "nikasil" them for him. As far as I
know the process requires special equipment and there aren't too many
companies out there that are set up to do it.
The method is quite simple.....they electrostatically charge the cylinders
and then insert a nickel/silicon (or whatever the material is) wire into the
center of the cylinders. They vapourize the wire and the particles attach
themselves to the cylinder walls. After they have built up enough thickness
they hone the cylinders to the right specs.
I have never referred to this process as "sleeved". I call it a "plating
process".
Any other thoughts on this? I hope you guys don't mind the school lecture
:-)
