Hey Greg. Well I put in a horn relay and ran a wire directly to
the voltage regulator. I was going to put a fuse inline there
and figured why not just put one between the battery and the
regulator for an extra level of protection.

I suppose if the regulator went bad, then it could be overcharging and burn up the battery? As for what amperage fuse to use, here is my logic (probably flawed): If you have a 300 watt generator and you want it to charge at no more than 15 volts, then a 20 amp fuse would be what is needed.
