Hello All... 1) Just wondering if it is OK to switch to synthetic oil for the engine and for the rear end ??? I've heard before that usually it is better to go Syntec, but that's more at the beginning of the engine's life and if (like mine) the engine had already runned 55K on the usuall oil it is rather recommended to stay with the regular oil... |
The one argument I have heard against synthetic oil that makes
sense if true... Synthetic oil is designed to suspend crud so it
gets sucked through the oil filter. On old bikes like (most of)
ours thats not good because we have no oil filter and prefer our
crap to settle or get caught in a sludge trap.
Other than that I'd do it if I could get away with not changing
oil so often, but again without an oil filter I don't know that
I'd feel comfortable with that.
