Yeah, if not it looks like i may have to cut the dang pipes and take the
heads into a a machine shop. In all my years i have never seen a nut
that sticks like this. The pipes are rusty anyway and I was thinking of
painting them to save the cash on new header pipes. Looks like I may end
up having to break down and buy new ones if I go this route. Bummer. But
I need to get that engine out so I can paint the frame.

I don't know how much help I can be but to say... If the nuts aren't too pretty anyway, just use a big pipe wrench and dispense with the special tools. As far as heat, I would think the ideal solution would be to heat the area around the nut while somehow keeping the nut as cool as possible as opposed to heating the nut itself. That way the hole expands, but the nut doesn't. Although any application of heat will likely help to at least get things "moving". Ted Ward |
