Will post a few pics sometime in the near future.
Sounds like ping, pre-ignition, detonation whichever you prefer. Usually
happens more on hot days. Do you use premium? Buy at a station that
sells a lot of gas? Once, out in the boonies of WV, I got a whole tank
of Sediment Supreme at a little Mom & Pop general store. Bike ran and
rattled like crap. Next tank miraculously cured it. I would check the
point gap and timing. If they're okay, you may have to retard the timing

Speaking of good ride back I did, basically except that I started to hear a "knocking" sound when I throttled the bike up hill or even throttling her on a flat grade. Didn't really sound like the characteristic valve clanging. Could this be timing? If not what else could it be? |
