Reading about your oil gauge incident is almost exactly what happened to
me last year. I hand built an adaptor, where did you get yours, out of
aluminium. It worked its way loose one time just off of the Blue Ridge
on a really rough, wash-board dirt road that was nothing but switch
backs. (The local told me the road was about 2 miles long, turned out to
be 10 or so). Lost a lot of oil, luckily had brought a quart with me.
Later the aluminum rig failed and puked out a couple quarts in a hurry.
Finally put the original sender back in. I think the crush washer is the
best idea. Let me know where you got an adaptor, I'd still like to have
a gauge on mine.
I hate I missed such a great rally.
