Wrist pin fit is perfect (just like the engine has only 20k miles on it,
hmmm!?) Will post some pics of the damaged bits this evening for all to
ponder. Cheers,

Better check your wrist pin fit in the conrods. I had an engine do this several times (=$$$) before I noticed the loose pins. CC in WI. Charlie Mullendore <c.d.mul-@att.net> Subject: RE: a few things- please read!!! Yep, right cylinder and piston are severely trashed. Evidently seized as I had surmised - big gouges in the cylinder wall with lots of piston bits fused around the top and stuck rings. Found that the piston skirts had been knurled at some point, probably in an effort to reuse parts that shouldn't have been. Ever since I got her running that first day, there had been a tapping noise on the overrun sort of like excessive valve clearance on the right cylinder. In retrospect it was likely piston slap from a worn skirt. Should have pulled the cylinders off when I had the heads done. But, since the rest of the engine looked inside like the 20k miles engine it was sold to me as, I didn't. 20/20 hindsight... |
