Has anyone ever just used the black silicone gasket maker sealant, with no fiber gasket material? I Did this on the front timing cover with no leaks in 12 months. First time around I made my own valve cover gaskets, I have the hole punches and it worked great, took a little time, but I think it was raining anyway. Bob Dane Trout wrote:

Easy, accurate way to make those gaskets is to put the material over the
area to be gasketed, and tap the edges and the holes with a small ball
pein hammer.....made bunches of 'em like that aboard ship in the Navy
since there is no gasket store in the middle of the ocean.......along
the roadside the edge of a box wrench will do....
