Don,
Remind me to put on my sunglasses if I ever get the chance to
see your bike in the flesh - Man, Is that Shiney!!
I just picked up one of thoose Basket-Weave Harley Police Solos
too (Thanks Ebay!), and was just this morning looking at how to fab up
brackets to mount it. I noticed you kept the original T-bracket, which
required mounting the seat a bit farther aft than I was thinking. I was
planning on removing the T-bracket & making up mounts to interface with
the original Guzzi mounting points. One of the reasons I wanted to do
this is to leave as much room as possible for access to the saddlebags;
the aft end of the Police Solo gets pretty wide, overlapping the tops of
the bags. Was there some reason you discovered that may cause problems
for me to do it that way, or did you try that & find it uncomfortable?
I'm just over 6ft, 32" inseam, and about 215#.
I would appreciate your input too, Greg.
Thanks for your time,
Joe in St Louis

I found a new take-off seat from a late model Harley police bike at a swap meet for $60. After a little modification to the mounting bracket it fit right on. Very comfortable and in my opinion, doesn't look too bad either. For a photo of the bike, taken at it's first outing, at the Arizona rally, go to :http://www.spodeteam.com/guzzi.html Don |
