You need either aluminum or annealed copper(heated red hot then allowed
to cool, becomes very soft), steel or zinc will not seal. Aluminum would
be best.

Shame on me. Got the gen bracket supports all fabricated and fitted,
even split the gen cover and fit it on there too. Took a test drive to
see how the gen was holding up and the oil line under the gen was
leaking bad. Took it all back apart and realized I put a washer on the
bolt holding the oil line onto the engine case on top of the oil line,
but forgot to add one below the oil line where the bolt attaches to the
engine case. Crap. Went out to Home Depot today to find some new
aluminum washers and planned to replace all of them. HD does not sell
aluminum washers, only steel/zinc washers. Is it OK to use these or
must I stick with aluminum washers to prevent corrosion/dis-similar
metal issues as the engine case is aluminum? I may need to hit some
cycle shops tomorrow to find aluminum if that is the only way to go.
