I got that Escher sump. It uses and aluminum tube the diameter of the
screen to extend the strainer and a tubular extender for the intake
tube.

But, your "spot weld" comment does beg the question as to the best way
to extend the oil pick-up tube. I had thought of tapping the existing
tube and screwing in an extension. I hadn't thought about spot
welding...not sure how good that would hold? Any other simple and easy
ideas out there?
