I think someone else pointed out- mothballs used to be made from
naphthalene (naph). It's an aromatic hydrocarbon, same family as
benzene. Mothballs are made from p-dichlorobenzene nowadays and you
don't want that to run through your motor. It releases chlorine atoms
which contribute to ozone degradation (no, I'm not kidding).
Naphthalene will increase your octane rating, but it won't get you that
much more power. The octane increase simply means that it won't
preignite under compression as easily as a lower octane gas.
Considering Guzzi compression ratios...uh, what's the point?
BTW, mothballs can also be used to run groundhogs off that decide to
burrow into your foundations. Grrr.
