Hi Ray,
I normally assemble, let set overnight, retorque. Then after approx.
five heat/cool cycles retorque and adjust valves again. Good idea to
check other fasteners in the area also (manifold bolts, exhaust nuts,
etc.) as these will settle in some. Cheers,

On my G5 and other air cooled motors I've rebuilt, I always retorqued the heads and adjusted the valves at 500-1000 miles. Is this still the collective wisdom? When I rebuilt this Eldo motor I torqued, let it sit a few days, and retorqued. New cylinder and head gaskets of course. Is that enough or do you all still retorque after a few break-in miles?
