Same question came up recently on the MGCL. I've only ever used unleaded
premium as there has never been anything else available since '84 in MD
(that I can remember). Haven't had any fuel related valve problems (or
any valve problems really) in my 75k miles on Guzzis. All have had stock
valves and seats. Clearances don't vary much and are never too tight.

The first set of heads I ever took to my local machine shop (they build
very successful circle track and drag racing American V8s) were from a
Convert. He tried to cut into the seats with "normal" force and the
cutter did nothing. The second try with a bit more determination had
little more effect. He commented that they were the hardest he'd seen -
harder even than those used in Mack truck engines (he worked at Mack's
Powertrain division in Hagerstown too). The seats in the V700 heads are
just as hard as the Convert ones. No need to change the seats in his
opinion. YMMV. Cheers,

I checked the archives and did not see this dicussed here, so maybe it
is a dumb question, but thought I would ask anyway- I usually run
whatever hi-test gas I find locally in my guzzis - and I know that in my

older car motors that when i had a valve job done I had hardened seats
installed to make up for the quality/make up of the gasoline- is this
something that should be done on Ambo/Eldo heads?

Also- has anyone on the list used Kibblewhite valves (blackdiamond
valves)for their loop? On their website it shows that they have valves,
guides and springs for the loops, etc:
