Without question, steel and iron can warp. Not saying that's exactly what
happened with your cam without checking for warpage, but you can't rule it
out just because its made of steel.

From: "Kevin Graf" <kgr-@midwestpension.com> Subject: 750 Cam So, I haven't been baffled for awhile, but I was throwing together my U1KG motor, basically just putting the parts in so they won't get lost during transport. Anyways.. The cam did not want to slide in. It didn't seem to want to line up. My initial thought was that it had some runout, warped, something along those lines, but I think that the cam is a very hard steel and would be brittle, therefore, more prone to just breaking instead of getting any amount of runout. Just to see, I slide a cam from an 850 into the case with no problem. What gives? Any ideas? Thanks, Kev |
