Hi Ted,
Was your swing arm connected to anything - like the rear drive? If so,
gear oil from the rear drive will leak out of the pinion bearings and
down the entire swing arm. This is *normal* and you just need to make
sure you put the proper amount of lube back in the rear drive unit.
There is no seal that prevents this from happening - nor should there
be.
If this is not the case, then please explain further.

I took the swingarm off my '74 and set it mostly upright but with the tranny-input end tilted a little down. After a few days I had oil all over my floor. Is this normal or do I need to replace a seal somewhere? Also, if my intermediate clutch plate is bent is it easy to tell? I am pretty sure it is fine and can't detect any abnormality but don't want to put it back together unless I am sure. Thanks Ted |
