Hey Steve, that's great! I know what you mean about standing around just
starring - trying to keep the drool contained! When I come back from a
ride, I let the Ambo idle for a minute or so in the garage. Then, I shut
the door tight and head back in the house. Later that day, or the next,
I can run out to the garage and get a good smell of that Ambassador.
Smells awesome! I've tried it with the Quota, but it just doesn't smell
the same.

 Latest Eldorado update,
well after my last failed attempt to get the re-assembled Eldorado over
to my house I followed the advice on the list and did the following:

went through the carbs one more time, once more blew out all passages
with compressed air and spray carb cleaner.
replaced upper and lower throttle cables and set freeplay properly.
was going to do same to chokes but switched to flip tops instead.
put in smaller jets for high altitude
installed Bosch 4216 platinum plugs
installed and set new points, new condenser, rotor, plug shields, plug,
and coil wires.
made sure cutaways on VHB slides were oriented properly
checked position of metering needles in slides
checked all fuel lines and fuel filters for debris or bent or collapsed
lines.
put it all back together and she fired up and ran strong!

got some help today and manhandled her out of the shop and onto the
street.
despite wet muddy roads, rain, and snow I drove it home. Ran fine,
shifted beautifully! As soon as the weather clears I'll do some valve
adjustment and fine tune the carbs and take her for a ride. Thanks to
everyone on the list who helped me out over the rebuild process,
especially Bruce Giller, Bob Hawke, Charlie, and Greg Bender who were
extra helpful. I've got a big grin on my face tonight, she rode really
nice and I should be able to get some good mileage in as soon as the
weather clears. I've gotta fix up the Honda that's taking up shop space
so I can sell it and then I'll be asking for more help as I tear into
the Ambo. As soon as I can get my #$%^ together I will try to post
some digital pix of the process. My buddy and I stood out in the cold
and just stared at it for about 45 minutes this afternoon. I love this
list.
