I think the entire list was rootin' for ya while reading through what you had done, and I'm sure everyone realizes the value of such a medium.....many of us don't write often, but sit back read and learn....A LOT!!!
The coolest part, is when Steve says, "My buddy and I stood out in the cold and just stared at it for about 45 minutes this afternoon"............been there, done that, and Man what a feeling it is!!!! Congradulations!!!

went through the carbs one more time, once more blew out all passages
with compressed air and spray carb cleaner.

shifted beautifully! As soon as the weather clears I'll do some valve
adjustment and fine tune the carbs and take her for a ride. Thanks to
everyone on the list who helped me out over the rebuild process,
especially Bruce Giller, Bob Hawke, Charlie, and Greg Bender who were
extra helpful. I've got a big grin on my face tonight, she rode really
nice and I should be able to get some good mileage in as soon as the
weather clears. I've gotta fix up the Honda that's taking up shop space
so I can sell it and then I'll be asking for more help as I tear into
the Ambo. As soon as I can get my #$%^ together I will try to post
some digital pix of the process. My buddy and I stood out in the cold
and just stared at it for about 45 minutes this afternoon. I love this
list.

As I was reading down the list of things you'd done and got near the
end, I was saying "It's GOT to start....it's GOT to start!" and was
glad to hear that it DID start and run good. Sounds like it's going to
be a lot of fun! Hope you do get some big miles on it.

I'm like you, except there's a friend's Kawasaki that's taking up shop
space in mine, I can't get the carbs to quit leaking even with new
floats, gaskets, and float needles, and with the needle seats swabbed
out with Qtips with carb cleaner etc. I think the needle seats are
buggered up, they're built into the carb bodies, and a new pair of carb
bodies are $800!!!! The bike wouldn't be worth that if it was running
good, so I may have to give him the bad news and let him know that the
new tires, battery, brakes, gas tank that I put on it for him are going
for naught if I can't find some solution for these stupid Keihin carbs.

Makes me appreciate Guzzis.
