Patrick,
makes perfect sense. I had thought someone was talking about welds
breaking. Thanks for the great description. So...lock-tite and the
occasionally "up on the lift real good inspection" routine. Can do.

Ray: I've seen two. One was mine and I caught it going down. The other was someone else's and there was no one there to catch it. :-( The long stand lever has a short threaded pivot at the upper end at right angles to the stand. The top of this threaded pivot end has its shaft flattened on each side. There is a small tang that one attaches to the upper end of the stand and this tang has a hole with flat sides to engage the flats of the stand end. If the retaining nut is kept tight, all is well. If the nut is allowed to run loose, the tang and shaft work against each other and move and eventually round off the corners of the shaft flats and enlarge the hole in the tang. Eventually it can just spin around. When this happens, you lose engagement to the frame and the stand is allowed to swing all the way forward toward the front wheel and over you go. Don't have a loop for a pic and the EV stand is all covered up by shields. Patrick Hayes Fremont CA |
