Ok Loopers, found an identical in every way replacement for the fork lock.
The one from All Italia

of Accessories) will work, but the end that engages with the steering stem
is a little short. There is a guy in Germany selling some for $15.50 on eBay
as BMW fork lock R25/3-69/S,/5/6. This lock is identical to both that I took
out of my frames. Check this link for the auction I bought it on so you can
see what it looks like and see if he has any more for those interested.

Maybe this can also be found from your local BMW dealer? All I can say is I
bought it January 16th and got it today in the mail.
