Hi Paul,
Yep, that's the way I've always done it. The hex-head part of the pivot
makes it difficult to do and the stiff springs don't help.

Charlie, I install the springs on the shoes first and then install the entire setup on the backing plate. You have to hold the shoes so the padding is facing up (springs joining the 2 shoes) and then you place the ends over the pivots and then press the shoes outwards. I have new return springs and they're making it a bit difficult to get the shoes over the pivot and cam. Bought one of those cheap rachet type "quick-clamps" and it will just barely open the gap enough to go over the cam. Just slips when I try to go further open. Never had any problem before, but then I've never had new springs either. Any ideas? |
