Hi Rob,
Yes, his instructions do work. In fact, the four speed is, IMHO, easier
to shim because you have one less gear to fiddle with. John Ulrich and I
shimmed my transmission and I documented some of the four speed
specifics on my website. In my opinion, shim it.
