MessageI once toyed with a pulley off the front crank nut. My plan was to use a flat belt pull cord like and old Gravely. Problem was the compression caused the bike to want to tip over.
I believe that a removeable, ratchet type foot pedal could be addaped to the front of the engine, off the crank, if one was so inclinded. Once the bike fired the pedal would be removed and stored - just don't stall in traffic!!!!!!
