I just went through getting my generator back into shape on my Eldo. One
of the bolts was broken off and the other one was loose. The stud in the
front to hold the gen in place was also missing. I removed the broken
bolt and put in a hardended set screw in the front hole and a much
longer one in the rear hole and put loctite on the threads. When I
remounted the gen I filled the alignment hole in the front of the engine
with hi-temp silcone gasket maker(black) and put a bead across the arc
that cradels the gen. Prior to this I put aviation nuts(nylock) on the
gen bracket and double nutted the rear one(longer stud). With everything
in place I had removed the pivot pins on the gen wrap-around bracket and
installed bolts(10mm) and torqued them tight. Everything seems very
solid now. My 2 cents.

Anybody check out this on ebay? The bracket looks simple enough make.I wonder if the alternator mounted to the frame gusset vibrates any less than the generator wobbling between the jugs.On my eldo's block the generator dowel pin hole is elongated from vibration, doesnt keep it very stable.Am wondering if it is worth the hassle to go to the alternator setup.Any one that is running this setup,I would appreciate any comments regarding vibration etc. Thanks Scott K |
