I don't run Uni filters, but from what you say it sounds like the
left side is running rich, which may be caused by the filter on that
side being clogged up. I'd throw in some new plugs and filters and use
that as an excuse to take it for a 200mi test ride, then see what you
got. Start with the simple stuff first.

Hi, all. I pulled my spark plugs to do a valve adjustement, and the left plug was really fouled. It's never been that way before. I checked the timing, and it was not far off. I checked the setting of the idle jet screw, and it was one and a half turns, which is according to the book. I haven't dug into the carb yet, but I noticed the Uni foam air filters look pretty deteriorated. Do you think that might be the cause of the problem? Perhaps dirty air is getting in? Those of you that are not running the stock filter box, what are you using for air filters, and how well is it working for you? Thanks for the info., Mike (69 ambo, 77 vert) |
