Robert: there is hope for loopframes! And Hawgly is a model for it....
But The Factory doesn't give a rat's patoot about old HDs (except for
publicity)....you can't buy anything for old bikes at a typical HD dealer
now (The Factory ran all of the committed mechanical-type dealers out) - but
you can buy a really baaad "Death Before Dishes" do-rag, or kool leather
underwear....
Little dealers, and entrepreneurial re-poppers are the hope!

Kev,
Glad to get this update, and that you are OK. Never happened upon an HD
myself. Never ridden one. Friend of mine had a HD and worked on it a lot.
He noticed that one thing about HDs are that you can always find a dealer
and get a part for any HD ever made, almost. HD really supports their
bikes, even the old ones, I guess. Too bad there aren't more Guzzi dealers
but then again we all wouldn't be as cool as we are if Guzzi was a popular
as HD or Honda. By the way, here in NY another Guzzi dealer bit the dust.
The guy in Nedrow NY went out of business about a month ago. He still has
Guzzis and parts. He said it would take him a few months to liquidate
everything. Sad.
Yeah, my main screen saver at work is a picture of a Griso. I have called
all the Guzzi dealers I know and no one knows when they are coming out, at
least over the Summer no one knew. Anyway, when, and if, they do come out I
may sell every vehicle I own. I am quite smitten by this bike, so far.

Rob,
I'm fine. All healed up, just factures of sorts from the crash. As for
the motorcycle, No Guzzi (yet) I did end up buying a 75 shovel a friend
built. Cool bike. Looks about from stock to pan years. Has had it's
problems, I just pulled the stator:-(
But like I said, fun cool bike to ride. I always wanted and old (older)
HD. My pal sold this to me after the accident for a good price at the
time, Now that I've had it, should've been cheaper, but to his credit he
has dumped plenty of $ into it AFTER the sale along with time helping me
stumble though the harley mechanics I have long since forgot.
It has left me stranded, caught on fire and has had even the most
expirianced shovelhead guys around scratching his head. NOTHING like the
Guzzi! But it is one of those things where the more you put into it the
more attached you get. The "wife" dubbed her "lucy" because in her words
"she's red, loud and a pain in the ass" :-)Although not as loud since I
fixed the exhaust... All in all it's an old harley, if a person buys one
with out expecting to pick up a wrench they're fooling themsevles
I bought the HD hoping to still settle with the Guzzi within a
reasonable amount of time. I would like to get the Guzzi back(of
course), and put it back to where it was cosmetically, and now probablly
mechanically from it sitting.. Then I would have the Ambo& the
troublehead. Eventually great back to the anouther Guzzis I'm building.
And also I cannot forget that I have to get the Waterbuffalo going.
Basically everything is on hold until I get my Ambo back. Time is
needed, money is needed and oh I cannot forget a space to work also.....
And of course the is the want of a "new" bike..... GRISO maybe
UMMMMM......

Kevin, OK but how about you, are you all mended up? Also, these things
can
take years sometimes, I don't know about that two year thing though.
And,
did you get another loop or another Guzzi, of any kind, or another
(non-Guzzi) bike? Best, Bob

Hey Bob,
Thanks for asking, not much to report. No one's budging on the
settlement price. The insurance co. won't talk to me directly now that I
got a lawyer involved, and it's a real chore trying to get in touch with
the lawyer. I have a feeling something has to break soon.
I couple months ago I left a message for the lawyer, asking why it is
such a P.I.M.A. to get a phone call back. Is it the lawyer fee we agreed
on? NO is it that he is just too busy? He's busy but NO. So I left it at
that and call every couple weeks to leave messages for him.
Being as busy as I can get, I have to admit that some slacking is on my
part, also. The bike itself is sitting in the garage of the owner of the
local Guzzi dealer. They are going to go after the insurance co. for the
storage costs. 1) Winter is right around the corner. 2) Maybe the added
pressure will help the insurance co. to settle.
So that's about it. The waiting game. Trust me you guys will be the
first to know when this egg breaks open.
I did hear something lately if the claim is not settled within 2 years
it could be considered null & void, releasing the ins. co. of all
responsibility. Anyone know if there is any truth to this?
Kev

As for the tires, Maxxis was mentioned, just to let you know , buyer
beware, some good, some bad. I put the whitewalls on the ambo. I don't
remember how many miles I put on the damn things but I'll tell you it
wasn't that many at all before the RR tire was shot with wear. Just ask
the folks who saw it at the loopmeet/midohio in 03.
I won't bother with them anymore.
I'll blame the crash on that....

Hey Corntown,
You know what happened to Kev; the road made a turn & he went
straight. He did a face plant which changed his whole outlook - now he
rides a Troublehead.
Rumor control has it that he's going to a laser clinic to get
the artwork removed, and he traded in his boots for white patent leather
& a turquoise jump suit.
Ya know, that sounds like just the look for Creamsicle-you
ought to consider it.
