Mine leaks from the level plug. Some hamfisted PO drilled out the
original threads and took a half inch bolt and cut a cross in it,
squeezed the four pieces together and screwed it back into the case!
Leaks from it all the time. I'm planning on swapping it out this winter
for my 850T rear end setup and will get the hole welded shut and a new
hole drilled for the correct bolt. Isn't there something about raising
the hole in Guzziology?

First suspect is the large diameter oil seal. Second would be the gasket seals between the drive and the shaft housing. Third would be the small diameter internal oil seal. Examine a parts breakdown closely.
