Hi Ted,
The black plastic part can be separated from the metal part by removing
two small screws with slotted heads that go in from the back. I've had
mine apart twice to polish the contacts and repack it each time with
dielectric grease. I've made a habit of turning the button a little bit
each time I start the bike. This seems to prolong the interval of
service by rotating the circular contact inside.
The lengths some people will go to avoid spending $14.75, eh? :-)
