Hi Bob,
I used some brass washers in a pinch one time on my Ambassador (I just
bought some 1/4" brass washers from my local hardware store and drilled
out the center to fit properly around the banjo bolts). But, I did
switch back to aluminum once my package arrived from MG Cycle (for
appearance, more than anything else, the brass washers sealed
perfectly). I'm no metallurgist, but I believe that aluminum is softer
than brass (and copper is harder than both). I think copper might not
seal properly due to it's hardness, so I would personally choose brass.

I had to remove the oil lines to get at the generator bracket. Can I replace the aluminum crush washers with copper if I can't find aluminium washers readily? BOB |
