Hi Rob,
The VHBs are basically a bolt on deal, but you may need to use the
manifolds/elbows from an Ambo or Eldo. I think there are subtle
differences (angle?length?diameter?) between the SS1s and VHB manifolds.
If you're running the stock airbox you'll need the rubber boot for the
VHBs also. You should probably retain the "intake reducer bushings"
(metal tube that fits into the intake ports) for it to run properly.
I don't know of anyone that runs VHBs on a V700 (but then I only know of
one V700 owner who rides theirs much), but it should be fine with the
same jetting as an Ambassador. According to my manuals the V700s and
early Ambos with SS1s both use the same jetting. My early Ambo (for all
practical purposes a V700 with 54cc more) uses the same jetting as the
later Ambos and works just fine. I'd use that as a starting point, then
if it runs a bit rich make the necessary changes.
Might get the old girl running with SS1s on as a baseline, then if you
don't like them switch over. Cheers,
Charlie

Charlie/others in the know are the VHB29s a bolt on replacement for the SS1s on a V700? I assume they will fit, but does the V700 'prefer' a different size jet or different needle in the VHB29s? Just curious. Rob |
