Bob, I think the bolts weakened further when the bolts became loose and had
more room to vibrate. If the threads in the case are good you could get away
with hardened bolts and locktiting them in. I have never had a problem with
the bracket but check for loosness regularly. Also....don't keep the gen
belt too tight. I hear that puts undue stress on the bracket.

I have heard about problems with the generator bracket and found mine loose over the weekend. When I stripped the parts off I found the rear mounting bolt broken off. From the looks of the bolt its been broke for some time. Used an "Easy-Out" and removed the bolt. Any updates I need to do to the gen bracket while it is out. Looks like a poor design with the two mounting bolts so close together. Should I lock-tite the bolts in place? What torque setting for the two bolts? Do I need to reinforce the mounting bracket, someone told me a while back the bracket can crack? Thanks for any feedback. BOB |
