Hi Paul,
Hope yours goes as easy as Ray's not as tough as mine. To remove the
spokes from the hubs of my '71 Ambo, I tried all manner of penetrants,
heat, cold, etc. but in the end it took brute force. Nearly half of the
spokes were stuck (corroded?) solidly in and were cut off short with the
die grinder and then driven out far enough that a pair of Vise-Grips
could be attached to the head of each. I then used a hammer on the jaws
of the 'Grips to pull the spoke out. What a pain in the butt! Buchanan
Spoke & Rim supplied new stainless steel spokes and nipples.

Had no problem removing the stock nipples - they all came right off.
Good luck,

Paul,
I did my wheels last year. Most of the spokes were loose but the ones
that were stuck got liberal doses of PB Blaster and several days to
think about it. I went back and some of those turned now, the others got

more Blaster and a few more days. Two nipples broke on me, no spokes.
Patience, lubricant, patience. Man, those stainless spokes cleaned up
real nice, as did the brass nipples. Beautiful. I coated them with
Eastwood's Nyalic.

I hadn't spoked and trued a wheeel in almost 30 years so had to relearn.

It took me about four hours per wheel! Good thing I wasn't getting paid
by the job.
Ray

Anyone have a good non destructive way of removing spokes from a hub?
Plan on starting a complete cleanup on a spare wheel and the spokes are
stuck.
