Hi Bob,
I agree with Hacksaw but do a couple of different things.
1. I find it easier to remove the rear wheel and swingarm to get to the
U-Joint...leaving the engine and transmission in place.
2. As a maintenance procedure, I choose to remove the U-Joint annually
for a several day soaking in some heavy weight gear oil.
3. I put about 60 cc of gear oil in the boot when I put things back
together...just to keep everything oily in there. If I could figure out
a way to run the U-Joint in a bath of oil, I would do that, too.
These steps may not be necessary, but I think the replacement part is
too expensive not to take a little preventive maintenance.
